About the position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Chief of Staff, Nursing Department at the Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible for providing clinical and medical support to healthcare providers. This role involves daily operations and patient care for a diverse veteran population, ensuring adherence to medical policies and procedures while maintaining high standards of nursing care. The LPN will work under the supervision of a Nurse Manager and may be assigned various duties to support organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and medical support for healthcare providers within the department.
• Perform practical nursing measures with precision and efficiency according to Medical Center policies.
• Adhere to infection control standards and ensure the safe operation of medical equipment.
• Assist during emergencies and provide CPR and other life-saving measures as needed.
• Administer medications accurately and promptly under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).
• Document patient care and report observations to the RN.
• Perform personal care and diagnostic support duties in a timely manner.
• Initiate, administer, assess, and monitor IV sites and fluids as directed.
• Establish priorities and adjust nursing care based on patient conditions.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Graduation from an approved school of practical or vocational nursing.
• Full, active, current, and unrestricted licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a U.S. state or territory.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
