About the position
The Practical Nurse position at WOMACK Army Medical Center in Fort Liberty, NC, involves providing individualized nursing care to patients of all ages based on physician's medical care plans. The role includes obtaining patient information, administering medications, performing various medical procedures, and educating patients and their families about health care practices. The Practical Nurse will also handle administrative tasks and ensure compliance with health care protocols.
Responsibilities
- Obtain information from patients and/or families to identify major complaints and symptoms.
- Take vital signs and perform behavioral health screenings.
- Document patients' chief complaints and other pertinent information in health records.
- Provide individualized nursing care based on physician's medical care plan and nursing assessment.
- Assist physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures.
- Administer medications and perform various medical procedures such as EKGs and dressing changes.
- Educate patients and families on childcare and school requirements for children on medications.
- Screen and review immunization records and administer immunizations as required.
- Perform administrative duties including data entry and retrieving laboratory results.
- Coordinate with clinic administrative staff for maintaining adequate vaccine and supply levels.
Requirements
- US Citizenship required.
- Current license to practice as a practical or vocational nurse in a State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
- At least one year of experience in a relevant nursing role.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a military healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of the Composite Health Care System (CHCS) and Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA).
