About the position
Loudoun Campus is seeking Adjunct Practical Nurse Faculty to join our team and help educate the next generation of nurses at the Reston Center. These part-time, course-by-course faculty positions are available for the following courses/topics: Pharmacology, Medication Aide, Basic and Advanced Med Surg, Mother-Baby, Pediatrics, and Mental Health. Each semester lasts 15 weeks, with course clock hours ranging from 100 to 382 hours, depending on the course. Faculty members are expected to remain current in their teaching disciplines and stay informed about trends in community college education. Instruction will include a mix of didactic, online, skills labs, and clinical instruction. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on an ongoing basis.
Responsibilities
- Engage and motivate adult learners, ensuring a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere.
- Serve as a role model and advocate for student success.
- Maintain accurate student participation and performance records.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to implement and enhance curriculum.
- Respond in a timely manner to student and faculty inquiries.
- Report incidents.
- Engage in professional development activities and clinical facility onboarding requirements.
- Maintain current professional competence, certifications, and licensure.
- Hold one office hour a week while teaching.
- Participate in the pinning ceremony.
Requirements
- Current unencumbered Virginia licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Experience using Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Outlook) and ability to utilize current classroom technology
- Ability to provide student instruction in the classroom, lab, and clinical settings
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills
- Annual submission of professional development, CEU's and competence required
- Must hold a current, unrestricted Virginia license or a multistate licensure privilege as a registered nurse
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Two years of experience in direct patient care as a registered nurse
- Good standing at local hospitals in the DMV.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience teaching in the field of Nursing.
- Previous experience in the community college setting.
- Previous experience with CANVAS LMS, Trajecsys, and ATI.
