About the position

Delta College of Arts & Technology in Baton Rouge is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Practical Nursing Program Coordinator to lead our Practical Nursing Program. This full-time administrative position offers a unique opportunity to shape the next generation of nursing professionals. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and routine evaluation of the program's philosophy, objectives, and curriculum. This role requires maintaining regular communication between nursing department faculty and school administration, collaborating closely with the Campus Director to make informed departmental decisions. The Program Coordinator will coordinate LPN clinical experiences and onsite training, ensuring that students receive the necessary hands-on experience to succeed in their nursing careers. Regular meetings with Practical Nursing faculty will be essential to evaluate the curriculum and assess student program progression. The Coordinator will also be responsible for ensuring that the program remains compliant with the standards set by all regulatory bodies, including the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners, and will maintain key responsibility for submitting required reports. In addition to these responsibilities, the Program Coordinator will recruit, recommend, and orient faculty members, providing them with ongoing training and evaluation to ensure high-quality instruction. Representing the Delta College Practical Nursing Program at professional meetings and public functions will also be a key aspect of this role. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and forward-thinking, with a passion for nursing education and a commitment to student success.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and routine evaluation of program philosophy, objectives and curriculum.
  • Maintain regular communication between nursing department faculty and school administration while collaborating with the Campus Director.
  • Provide coordination of LPN clinical experience and onsite training.
  • Regularly meet with the Practical Nursing faculty to evaluate curriculum and assess adequate student program progression.
  • Ensure compliance with the standards of all regulatory bodies and maintain responsibility for reports to the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners.
  • Recruit, recommend, and orient faculty while providing training and evaluation.
  • Represent the Delta College Practical Nursing Program at professional meetings and public functions when appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by college administration.

Requirements

  • Must hold a current, valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Louisiana.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in medical-surgical nursing or nursing education.
  • At least one (1) of those four years must have been as a medical-surgical hospital staff nurse providing direct patient care.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree preferred, but not required.
  • Must have practiced as a nurse for a minimum of six (6) full-time months during the three years immediately preceding appointment to this position.
  • Successful candidates must pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
