About the position

The Practice Lead position at Houston Methodist is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the neurology department, ensuring that all staff provide exceptional patient care and customer service. This role involves coordinating workflows, training staff, and collaborating with management to enhance departmental efficiency and patient satisfaction. The Practice Lead also plays a key role in problem-solving, conflict resolution, and maintaining a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily department operations, including patient appointments and surgical scheduling.
  • Maintain office efficiency by organizing daily schedules and work activities.
  • Model healthy work relationships and serve as a mentor to less experienced staff.
  • Coordinate all department activities, including staffing and provider support.
  • Investigate and resolve patient complaints regarding provider care.
  • Assist with arranging language interpretations for healthcare providers and patients.
  • Design and implement office policies and procedures under management direction.
  • Report near misses and collaborate with the healthcare team to improve patient safety.
  • Manage department finances, including budgeting and inventory control.
  • Partner with management in strategic planning for department growth.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent education; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Five years of healthcare or clerical support experience, preferably in a provider practice.
  • Demonstrated skills and competencies necessary to perform assigned job duties.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, for effective communication.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to solve problems in high-stress environments.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage resources and coordinate across areas.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record systems.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.
