About the position

The Practice Manager at Henderson Engineers will oversee the Retail Sector with a focus on Restaurants, managing production staff and ensuring high-quality project execution. This role involves guiding employee development, maintaining production standards, and fostering strong client relationships. The Practice Manager will play a crucial role in aligning resources with project needs and contributing to the growth of the engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise production staff executing the work of the practice.
  • Assign project responsibilities and manage work performance.
  • Guide employee development efforts and foster positive employee engagement.
  • Inform employment needs and decisions for production staff within the practice.
  • Maintain production systems, standards, and processes that meet client needs.
  • Assist the Practice Director in aligning resources with projects to maximize labor efficiency.
  • Provide feedback regarding staffing and client needs to inform hiring decisions.
  • Serve as hiring manager for the practice, leading interviews for production staff and project managers.
  • Manage employee performance and operational needs, including evaluations and discipline.
  • Collaborate with leadership to foster an engaged employee culture and lead company-wide initiatives.
  • Manage client relationships and serve as a strategic client contact within the local region.
  • Ensure production of drawings, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, science, technology, marketing, or business preferred.
  • Eight or more years of relevant experience, with a minimum of two years in personnel or project management experience.
  • Proven track record in contributing to the growth and development of client-focused engineering teams.
  • Ability to motivate, direct, and coach staff effectively.
  • Demonstrates excellent motivation and team leading skills.
  • Broad proficiency of engineering design fundamentals and advanced knowledge of the A&E industry.

Nice-to-haves

  • Direct experience in design and/or management of complex, unique projects.
  • Strong technical competency and problem-solving skills.
