About the position

The Practice Service Liaison at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) plays a crucial role in the Clinical Practice Services (CPS) department, focusing on improving processes and maximizing collections for assigned specialties. This position involves collaboration with various stakeholders to manage claims related to revenue cycle processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The liaison will analyze financial reports, identify opportunities for improvement, and act as a resource for coding and billing inquiries, ultimately aiming to enhance the financial performance of clinical departments.

Responsibilities

• Assist Clinical Department(s) and/or CPS in resolving clinical and financial concerns.
• Understand charge capture processes within Clinical Department(s) and CPS, including fee schedules and contracts.
• Augment CPS claims analysis and appeal procedures through follow-up on reports to identify appeal tactics.
• Report findings of trends and develop action plans for improvement.
• Act as the point-of-contact for communications with assigned Department(s) regarding coding, billing, and reimbursement questions.
• Identify the need for and participate in developing departmental policies involving complex issues.
• Research new CPT codes and services for accurate reporting and reimbursement.
• Provide education and training to coding specialists to minimize denials.
• Participate in new provider orientations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a related role.

Nice-to-haves

• Coding Certification (CPC, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT)
• Experience in CPT and diagnosis coding
• Relevant specialty coding experience
• Knowledge of payer policy review and health insurance follow-up.
