About the position

The Praxis Support Instructor for Middle Level Social Studies at the Voorhees Center of Excellence for Educator Preparation & Innovation is responsible for developing and implementing support programs for Praxis exams. This role focuses on providing specialized testing support, facilitating evidence-based learning sessions, and monitoring participant progress to ensure success in meeting educational standards and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Praxis content area and support tests closely aligned to current subject-area standards.
  • Lead discussions with program participants on the assessment of subject-related constructs.
  • Apply strong content knowledge and stay informed about current standards, trends, and strategies for success on content tests.
  • Work closely with participants to understand and meet their needs.
  • Function independently as part of the EPI Center team and collaborate with outside experts in the field.
  • Design and implement evidence-based Praxis support sessions with pre and post-assessments.
  • Prepare weekly small group and one-to-one Praxis support sessions.
  • Provide direct support to program participants and monitor their progress.
  • Maintain progress reports and anecdotal assessment records for regular updates to participants and comprehensive reports to leadership.
  • Collaborate on professional development plans and develop learning plans based on documented data and evaluations.
  • Serve as a resource for Praxis-related questions and promote a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Engage in continuous professional improvement and complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
  • Professional teaching certificate in South Carolina preferred, or advanced degrees and related expertise may be considered.
  • Demonstrated expertise in content areas relevant to Praxis exams and understanding of the exam format, structure, and standards.
  • Proven track record of implementing effective, evidence-based teaching practices that support student success.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of a relevant content area to provide specialized testing support.
