About the position
The Pre-Admission Testing Nurse is responsible for coordinating the registration and pre-admission testing for patients requiring outpatient and same-day surgery. This role emphasizes patient safety, effective communication, and collaboration with healthcare disciplines while adhering to nursing standards and regulatory guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate registration for patients requiring pre-admission testing.
- Conduct perioperative phone screenings of pre-operative surgical patients.
- Make pre-operative calls to provide arrival times and instructions to patients.
- Organize and direct activities in accordance with nursing standards and applicable guidelines.
- Assess medical and medication history of patients prior to surgery via telephone.
- Review lab, x-ray, and EKG orders to determine completion locations and times.
- Provide preadmission teaching to patients.
- Track trending issues from calls and develop action plans with follow-up reporting.
- Assume additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Requirements
- Current licensure in the State of Ohio as a Registered Nurse.
- 1-2 years of nursing experience in a hospital setting.
- BLS certification required.
- Maintains compliance in RQI.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of Medicare regulations preferred.
- Strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient.
