About the position

The Pre-Clerkship Curriculum Operations Coordinator is responsible for managing the operational aspects of the Year 1 and Year 2 medical student curriculum at Washington State University. This role involves close collaboration with the Pre-Clerkship Curriculum Co-Director to oversee course development, scheduling, and addressing concerns from students, faculty, and staff. The coordinator will ensure continuous quality improvement of the curriculum, implement policies and procedures, and align with accreditation requirements. The position includes supervisory responsibilities for Curriculum Specialists and reports to the Manager of the Office of Curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the operationalization of the Year 1 and Year 2 medical student curriculum.
  • Provide strategic oversight of course development and scheduling management.
  • Support the triage of student, faculty, and staff concerns related to curriculum design.
  • Oversee continuous quality improvement of the Pre-Clerkship curriculum.
  • Implement policies and procedures of the Pre-Clerkship Curriculum independently.
  • Guide alignment with accreditation requirements and best educational practices.
  • Supervise Year 1 and Year 2 Curriculum Specialists.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Three years of experience directly related to the specialty area.
  • Experience in instructional design, curriculum, education, health sciences, or office operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Previous work experience at an institution of higher education.
  • Experience working with diverse faculty, students, and staff.
  • Student services experience in admissions, curriculum development, or advising.
  • Familiarity with Washington State University academic rules and regulations.
