About the position

The Global Engineering Services (GES) Preconstruction Manager is responsible for managing industrial development projects, including new builds, retrofits, and expansions, from site selection through contract execution. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure project scope, budget, and schedule are defined and adhered to, while also overseeing the planning, design, and pre-construction phases of multiple large industrial projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage complex industrial builds from site selection through design completion, permitting, and contract execution.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to secure resources and scope infrastructure builds, setting priorities and milestones.
  • Drive results through effective communication, risk assessment, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Manage vendor procurement and oversee professional service providers, ensuring their competencies meet project needs.
  • Conduct cost estimating, schedule tracking, and forecasting to ensure successful project hand-over to stakeholders.
  • Supervise the implementation of safety programs and standards during project planning phases.
  • Focus on site selection and scope development, coordinating with design teams to ensure compliance with operational requirements.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, including design and permitting phases, in partnership with developers.
  • Prepare and present project status and risk reports to leadership and management teams.
  • Interface with authorities having jurisdiction to ensure regulatory compliance and smooth project execution.
  • Adapt to constant change and innovation, finding solutions for evolving business needs.
  • Understand and analyze design and construction contracts, providing detailed approvals of technical matters and site-specific terms.
  • Travel up to 40% within assigned regions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or equivalent STEM field.
  • 7+ years of project management, real estate development, architecture/design experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in distribution or manufacturing with equivalent mechanical or electrical field experience.
  • 7+ years of facilities management, office management, corporate administrative services, or hospitality management experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in design review processes incorporating electrical, mechanical, and automation controls solutions.
  • Experience with automated conveyor systems and controls, electrical and electronic principles, and blueprint reading.
