About the position

The Preconstruction Senior Estimator position at Schneider Electric is designed for an experienced estimator who is eager to lead and mentor others. This role combines estimating responsibilities with day-to-day management duties, focusing on supporting the pre-construction team and ensuring effective project execution. The Senior Estimator will manage workload, mentor team members, and engage in recruitment while developing estimates for Building Automation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support day-to-day activity of local pre-con resources
  • Manage flow of work and assign to team members based on bandwidth and experience
  • Assist sales in qualification and prioritization of projects
  • Provide process and technical coaching for team members
  • Advocate for new initiatives within the PreCon organization
  • Support rollout of new initiatives and assist in communication to the local Branch team
  • Coach and mentor new employees
  • Attend Branch meetings to understand branch strategy and manage plans to support
  • Obtain feedback from local Ops and sales teams for lessons learned and employee development
  • Develop turnkey estimates for Building Automation projects
  • Prioritize assigned projects/tasks to meet sales schedule
  • Review customer specifications/drawings for technical compatibility and competitiveness
  • Analyze, document, and communicate technical terms and conditions
  • Coordinate and verify subcontractor quotations and scopes of work
  • Develop detailed scope letters and optimal system designs
  • Attend and run pre-bid meetings and site walk-throughs for potential projects
  • Consult with operations, engineering, and sales groups throughout the tendering process
  • Reconcile final job costs after internal and external project review meetings
  • Support sales calls as needed
  • Develop and maintain subcontractor and vendor relationships
  • Effectively turnover projects to the operations team after project award
  • Complete required technical training to increase proficiency in activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 5 years of industry-related experience with 2 years of estimating
  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems
