About the position

The Pre-Doctoral Fellowship under Professor Gabriel Kreindler offers an opportunity for candidates to engage in research within urban, spatial, and development economics. The fellow will contribute to projects involving structural modeling, estimation, and large-scale randomized experiments, while also developing their own research agenda. This one-year fellowship provides a platform for collaboration and potential co-authorship on academic papers.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, writing, and fine-tuning code for structural model simulation, focusing on computational performance using the Julia programming language.
  • Conducting non-linear estimation and other statistical analyses.
  • Running power calculations for randomized controlled trials using structural models.
  • Assisting in the preparation of academic journal submissions and code and data for publication.
  • Performing literature reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as economics, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or physics.
  • Strong programming and mathematical skills.
  • Experience writing high-performance code, particularly in large model simulations or large data contexts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of the Julia programming language is preferred but not required.
