Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of high school students with diverse disabilities? The transition from high school can be challenging for students and their families as they move into post-high school life. Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) is an exciting program that provides students with the knowledge and hands-on experience they need before leaving high school. If you are a self-driven, organized disability advocate, then this is the position for you! As a Pre-ETS Career Coach, you'll provide hands-on, individualized instruction, engage with students in schools and the community, develop career exploration and work-based learning opportunities, and collaborate with schools, families, and employers. This position requires some travel to various high schools and community partners. The Pre-ETS Career Coach provides direct services to high school students both in their schools and within the community. Instruction is individualized based on student needs as outlined by WIOA regulations, encompassing the following areas: career exploration and counseling, work-based learning, workplace readiness, instruction in self-advocacy, and post-secondary education counseling. You will be a key player in their journey towards independence and success, enjoying a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on, individualized instruction to high school students.
  • Engage with students in schools and the community.
  • Develop career exploration and work-based learning opportunities.
  • Collaborate with schools, families, and employers to support student success.
  • Administer initial assessments to determine students' baselines in service areas.
  • Create individualized plans for each student with specific goals.
  • Provide services to students individually and/or in groups.
  • Engage with employers to develop work-based learning opportunities for students.
  • Supervise students in schools and community settings.
  • Document all services provided to students in a timely manner.
  • Participate in IEP meetings to assist with effective transition planning.
  • Utilize and adapt existing curricula to meet student needs.
  • Create student portfolios with resumes and related information.
  • Administer exit assessments for students completing Pre-ETS services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred (relevant experience may substitute for degree).
  • Experience working with high school students and/or students with disabilities preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Passion for advocacy and education.
