About the position

The Pre-Independent Licensed Therapist position at CARE Counseling, part of the Optum family, involves providing therapeutic services to clients in the Twin Cities area. This role is integral to the Optum Behavioral Care Team's mission to enhance healthcare delivery through compassionate care and innovative solutions. The therapist will have the flexibility to work onsite or in a hybrid model, contributing to the holistic treatment of patients' physical, mental, and social needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intakes, diagnostic evaluations, and monitor treatment planning while engaging in client therapy practices under supervision.
  • Form effective therapeutic alliances to support each client's unique needs and goals, positively impacting client outcomes and retention.
  • Demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge related to individual goals, treatment plans, and diagnoses.
  • Engage in crisis interventions and stabilization for clients experiencing mental health symptoms, prioritizing client safety.
  • Document all client interactions timely and accurately according to legal and ethical standards.
  • Provide one-to-one supportive counseling and perform behavioral management interventions as needed.
  • Create a positive atmosphere with staff and clients.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, group consultation, and required meetings, demonstrating professionalism.
  • Incorporate feedback from supervisors to improve client care standards.
  • Track and document hours related to licensing efforts, if applicable.
  • Maintain a full client caseload and meet an average quota of 28 points weekly.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctoral Degree in Behavioral Science or a related field (Psychology, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, Education, etc.) or currently in the final months of a Master's Degree program with completion within 90 days of employment.
  • In the process of working toward independent licensure and in good standing with the respective licensing board or possess an active, unrestricted clinical license as a Pre-Independently Licensed Therapist in Minnesota.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to adhere to onsite or hybrid work models.

  • Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) Systems.
