About the position

The Architectural Designer at HED will play a crucial role in the design and technical systems for small to medium-sized projects, guiding them from the schematic phase through to construction administration. This position requires a strong understanding of architectural principles and the ability to manage various aspects of project development. The designer will be responsible for creating building and system concepts, ensuring that all documentation processes are meticulously followed throughout the project lifecycle. As a discipline team leader, the Architectural Designer will oversee project team members within their discipline, ensuring that all contributions align with the overall project goals and standards. In this role, the designer will prepare and monitor project status reports, conduct necessary material and product research, and document required code research for each project. Attendance at project meetings is essential, as is the ability to interface effectively with other discipline team leaders. The designer will also be responsible for interpreting documentation and reviewing submittals during the bidding and construction administration phases. A key aspect of this position is to monitor staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality architectural and engineering services within a collaborative project team environment. Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor as needed, requiring flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work setting.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for building and system concepts and documentation process from schematics through construction administration phases within the discipline.
  • Function as discipline team leader on small to medium sized projects when assigned.
  • Oversee project team members within their own discipline.
  • Prepare and monitor project status reports.
  • Conduct material and product research as required for project development.
  • Prepare and document required code research for project.
  • Attend project meetings as necessary.
  • Interface with other discipline team leaders.
  • Document interpretation and submittal reviews during bidding and construction administration.
  • Monitor staff to produce quality architectural and engineering services within a project team concept.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and licensure preferred.
  • LEED Accredited preferred.
  • Minimum four years' experience in A/E industry preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor staff, and delegate work assignments.
  • Computer and CADD literate.
  • Very detail-oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic and flexible.
  • Ability to work well with others under deadline situations.
