About the position

The Pre-K Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the instructional program within a Pre-Kindergarten classroom, specifically for 4- and 5-year-old students. This position involves working closely with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning concepts, assist with lesson assignments, and provide clerical support to teachers and staff. The Pre-K Assistant is responsible for creating a safe and positive learning environment while monitoring student behavior and progress.

Responsibilities

• Assists students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts.
• Communicates with teachers to administer classroom assignments and implement objectives.
• Provides support to teachers in the instructional process and evaluates student progress.
• Monitors students in various settings to ensure a safe learning environment.
• Reports observations and incidents related to student behavior to appropriate personnel.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support the instructional program.

Requirements

• Hold an associate's degree or higher from a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution.
• Completed two years of college coursework (60 semester hours) with a grade of 'C' or better at a GaPSC-accepted institution.
• Passed the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment and hold a minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must hold or be eligible for a GaPSC-issued Paraprofessional License.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous employment in a Pre-K program is preferred.
• Excellent classroom management skills.
