About the position

The Pre-Kindergarten Teacher - Bilingual position at Elgin Independent School District focuses on providing students with engaging learning activities and experiences in core academic subjects. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the district's curriculum requirements.
  • Prepare lessons that accommodate different student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines and district policies.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies and materials based on students' needs.
  • Conduct assessments of student learning styles to inform instructional planning.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students as per IEP guidelines.
  • Work with staff to determine instructional goals and methods according to district requirements.
  • Supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Utilize technology to enhance the teaching and learning process.
  • Help students improve study methods and habits through academic interventions.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through various testing methods.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor approved outside activities.
  • Create a conducive classroom environment for learning and development.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Take precautions to protect students and classroom materials.
  • Assist in selecting instructional materials and equipment.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Participate in staff development activities to enhance job-related skills.
  • Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for teachers.
  • Compile and maintain required reports and records.
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the assigned subject and level.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
  • Knowledge of core academic subjects and general curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior effectively.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • At least one year of student teaching or approved internship experience.
