About the position

The Pre-Kindergarten Teacher at San Antonio ISD is responsible for providing students with appropriate learning activities in core academic subjects to foster their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The role aims to enable students to develop competencies and skills that prepare them for success in higher education and society. The teacher will work closely with students, parents, and staff to create a conducive learning environment and implement lesson plans that meet district requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze performance data to provide targeted instruction based on students' individual needs.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and accommodate different learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines and district policies.
  • Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals and methods according to district requirements.
  • Modify curricula for special education students as identified in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Utilize technology to enhance the teaching and learning process.
  • Plan and monitor the workflow of instructional assistants and volunteers.
  • Help students analyze and improve their study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students' development.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students and materials.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information clearly to students, parents, and staff.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Participate in staff development activities for professional growth.
  • Comply with state, district, and campus policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile and maintain required reports and records.
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.
  • Demonstrated competency in core subject area assigned.
  • Satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check.
