About the position

KLA Schools of Sweetwater is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Pre-Kindergarten/Transitional Kindergarten Teacher to join their team. This role focuses on nurturing and educating young children using the Reggio Emilia approach, ensuring each child's individual needs are met while promoting their growth and development. The teacher will be responsible for creating a positive learning environment and implementing lesson plans that prepare children for Kindergarten readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage daily class functions for a group of children.
  • Follow all health, safety, and care regulations set by KLA Schools and relevant agencies.
  • Assess each child's developmental needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Implement approved lesson plans and daily schedules according to the Reggio Emilia Approach.
  • Plan and conduct parent-teacher conferences and student evaluations with the Director of Pedagogy.
  • Maintain an attractive and well-kept classroom that encourages exploration and decision-making.
  • Provide verbal recognition and clear expectations for children's behavior.
  • Handle maintenance and housekeeping duties for the classroom and common areas.
  • Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and school functions.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the Employee Handbook.

Requirements

  • Associates in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • Experience teaching in a Pre-K classroom.
  • Must meet basic requirements of local child care regulatory agency.
  • Previous teaching or assistant teaching experience in a licensed early childhood program is required.
  • Knowledge of the social, emotional, and creative needs of young children.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. for child handling and safety.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, email).
