About the position

The Pre-Litigation Team Lead at The Dominguez Firm is responsible for overseeing a team of case managers in the management of pre-litigation personal injury cases. This role involves direct supervision, conducting regular file reviews, assisting with negotiations, and ensuring the medical management of cases. The Team Lead plays a crucial role in guiding case managers, reviewing demands, and making informed decisions regarding case readiness for demand.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage approximately 3-5 case managers.
• Meet with Supervising Attorney to conduct regular file reviews.
• Assist and direct case managers with day-to-day management of medical treatment of pre-litigation matters.
• Assist case managers in negotiating pre-litigation settlements as needed.
• Conduct monthly file reviews with each team member.
• Review and edit demands written by the demand team.
• Responsible for the medical management of all assigned PI matters, including reviewing all medical reports and recommendations by treating medical providers.
• Monitor medical management of commercial cases.
• Be available to assigned Case Managers for guidance and assistance.
• Complete intro call for new client(s) within one week of case assignment.
• Review every new case coming to your Pod and issue spot for early To-Dos for Case Managers.
• Assist Case Managers with any client problems or potential issues.
• Assist Medical Records Coordinators and Medical Liens Negotiators as needed.
• Make informed decisions about when a file is ready for demand.
• Communicate with Managing Attorney regarding third-party policy limits.
• Settle cases in your Pod with adjustor and client.
• Obtain and review release(s) from insurance companies.
• Ensure accuracy of breakdown and medical roster.
• Obtain client signatures on breakdown and release.

Requirements

• Experience in personal injury law and pre-litigation processes.
• Strong leadership skills to manage and guide a team of case managers.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to review and analyze medical reports and legal documents.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual in Spanish or other languages is a plus.
• Experience with case management software.
• Knowledge of California personal injury laws.
