About the position

The Pre-Registration Call Center Specialist at Rome Health is responsible for managing the pre-registration process for patients seeking medical services. This role involves verifying insurance, validating medical necessity, collecting payments, and providing arrival instructions. The specialist will engage with patients and collaborate with various departments to enhance the patient experience and ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Receive patients of all ages in a courteous and compassionate manner.
  • Answer incoming and conduct outbound calls professionally.
  • Demonstrate service excellence with every encounter with customers, providers, and departments.
  • Create a pre-registration visit from a scheduled visit via phone call to capture necessary data elements.
  • Advance accounts from 'scheduled' to 'pre-register' status through patient conversations.
  • Obtain personal, financial, and statistical information to create or update patient records in the electronic system.
  • Ensure valid physician orders are present for patient services and scan them to the patient encounter record.
  • Obtain and enter the patient's primary care provider in the patient record.
  • Verify insurance coverage status and follow up with patients on inactive insurance statuses.
  • Complete Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire for every Medicare Beneficiary encounter.
  • Work with surgical/specialty offices for accuracy of CPT and ICD 10 codes.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in an acute care hospital, physician's office, or other healthcare agency is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Previous 'Patient Access' or Registration experience preferred but not required.
  • CHAA/CHAM Certification preferred.
