About the position

The Pre-Series Electrical Systems Specialist at Bertrandt is a pivotal role focused on the commissioning of pre-series vehicles, specifically the ID4 (Electric Vehicle) and Atlas (Internal Combustion Vehicle). This position is integral to ensuring the buildability of these vehicles and their timely delivery. The Specialist will be responsible for analyzing errors and evaluating countermeasures, which involves closely monitoring pre-series vehicles during production or stationary builds. This includes documenting any electrical engineering (EE) related buildability topics and conducting tests on pre-series vehicle wire harnesses prior to assembly. In addition to these responsibilities, the Specialist will support production teams on EE-related topics, providing deeper analysis and solutions. This will involve creating documentation and analyzing statistical data to build comprehensive reports for further analysis. Collaboration is key in this role, as the Specialist will work alongside various departments such as Development, Logistics, Production, and Quality Assurance. They will support the Cross-Functional Teams (CFT) in Electrical Engineering and other working groups as needed. The role requires a keen ability to analyze construction changes and deviation permits, as well as CAD data, drawings, and descriptions to identify potential electric buildability issues. The Specialist will follow up with relevant departments to resolve these issues before the vehicles are built.

Responsibilities

  • Perform wire harness test and document results.
  • Maintain and update ABP-Tool software and hardware, including connection lists, changes, and connector updates.
  • Coordinate wire harness tests with Logistics.
  • Update parts when necessary to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to pre-series build schedules.
  • Maintain high quality in each build stage, with a special focus on the orientation of wire harnesses.
  • Document rework time in pre-series builds.
  • Participate in Cross-Functional Teams (CFT) for problem-solving activities.
  • Analyze measurement reports, CAD data, drawings, technical descriptions, and 3D models for any buildability issues.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of electrical problems using hands-on techniques, propose countermeasures, and document results.
  • Document buildability problems in KMP, Streifenliste, or similar tools.
  • Perform part sample production trials to detect process defects or errors and confirm product changes and quality improvements.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electric/Electronic or proof of similar qualification.
  • Experience with automotive wire harness structure, testing, and assembly processes.
  • 3+ years of job-related experience in the automotive industry, preferred.
  • Good understanding of change management, preferred.
