About the position
The Pre-Surgery Scheduling Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing and scheduling surgeries for providers, ensuring that all pre-operative processes are completed efficiently. This position involves educating patients and their families about procedures and recovery, coordinating with various departments, and maintaining accurate patient data. The coordinator is essential in facilitating a smooth surgical experience for patients within the Blanchard Valley Health System.
Responsibilities
- Provides customer education on all tests/procedures.
- Coordinates provider's surgery schedules.
- Validates patient's demographic data, including completing any insurance/second opinion processes.
- Assures completeness of pre-operative data.
- Provides pertinent peri-operative education to patient/family.
- Notifies appropriate disciplines/departments of preparatory interventions and treatment.
- Actively participates in the planning for and prioritizing of education needs in the department.
- Completes annual competency program, including all documentation requirements.
- Provides various training for projects assigned.
- Promotes a positive image of the department and organization.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to work at the computer for long periods and skilled in keyboard usage.
- Ability to use the telephone to respond to customers, and the ability to use the computer and telephone simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and organizational skills.
- Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Clinical experience.
- EMR experience.
- Knowledge of CPT Coding, ICD 9 Codes, and Medicare Requirement Issues.
