About the position

The Pre-Teen Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and activities for youth aged 10-14 at the BGCB Pre-Teen Center. This role includes managing program staff, budget oversight, and ensuring the delivery of quality programming that promotes youth development across various core areas such as arts, education, leadership, and technology. The manager will also focus on positive behavior management and inclusion, while collaborating with other departments and community organizations to enhance program offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning and implementation of quality programs and activities for youth aged 10-14.
  • Deliver BGCB core programs and workforce readiness opportunities for middle schoolers.
  • Supervise and discipline members participating in programs and services.
  • Prioritize Positive Behavior Management, Social-Emotional Development, and DEI initiatives.
  • Manage and oversee program activity standards and collaborate with other departments.
  • Coordinate with program partners and consultants for additional support.
  • Participate in evaluation efforts, including annual member surveys.
  • Orient, train, and supervise department staff, providing performance evaluations.
  • Secure and monitor the program budget, materials, and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe program area and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Travel between sites and to activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered.
  • Direct experience providing recreation programs for youth.
  • Knowledge of youth development principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • CPR / FA certification required or must be obtained.
  • Competency in MS Office and web applications preferred.
  • Ability to work with youth and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work clubhouse hours as needed.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual ability preferred.
