About the position

The Precision Phenotyping Post Doc position at Corteva involves driving new precision phenotyping science from concept to deployment within the Seed Product Development Group. The role focuses on developing innovative solutions to plant breeding challenges using various technologies, including drones and machine learning. The candidate will work both independently and collaboratively to adapt and execute science plans related to specific phenotyping targets.

Responsibilities

• Drive new precision phenotyping science from concept to deployment.
• Focus on solving recalcitrant issues in precision phenotyping.
• Develop precision phenotyping solutions aligned with plant breeding challenges.
• Investigate new precision phenotyping technologies such as drones, RGB, multi-spectral, hyperspectral, proximal, LiDAR, robotics, and satellites.
• Creatively adapt new precision phenotyping solutions and generate science plans.
• Work independently and across dynamic teams to achieve project goals.
• Collect phenotyping data in the field.

Requirements

• PhD in Plant Breeding, Genetics, Agronomy, Phenomics, Engineering, or related fields.
• Self-motivated to advance projects and collaborate on larger team projects.
• Willingness to learn and embrace new challenges in the phenotyping space.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including peer-reviewed publications.
• Ability to keep detailed and organized records of experimental protocols and results.
• Experience in analyzing results, troubleshooting technical difficulties, and implementing solutions.
• Adherence to safety requirements.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with machine learning image processing.
• Familiarity with novel precision phenotyping tools.
• Experience collecting phenotyping data in the field.
