About the position

The premium auditor position at biBERK involves conducting audits for various lines of business insurance, primarily focusing on Worker's Compensation. The role is essential for determining the actual insurance exposure of customers and ensuring that appropriate premiums are billed. The auditor will analyze payroll records, tax filings, and other relevant documents, and may also conduct interviews with customers to gather necessary information. This position is open to both entry-level and experienced candidates, providing an opportunity for growth within a rapidly expanding company.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze payroll, tax, and accounting records to determine the appropriate premium base for various insurance lines.
  • Obtain descriptions of business operations, employee job duties, and other relevant information over the phone and through email.
  • Determine if proper insurance classification codes have been assigned to customer policies according to state manuals and suggest class code changes when appropriate.
  • Adjust premiums based on state manual rules, such as officer wage adjustments, premium overtime credits, tip credits, etc.
  • Complete audit worksheets using an Excel template and process the audit findings in the database.
  • Provide superior customer service to policyholders throughout the audit process.
  • Resolve customer disputes regarding audit results.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and has an aptitude to learn other software applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high accuracy rate.
  • Strong critical thinking and organizational skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and use good judgment.
  • Strong reading comprehension skills to interpret and apply manual rules.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills.
  • Desire to continuously learn.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (finance, business, accounting).
  • Associate's Degrees acceptable when paired with a strong score on the Wonderlic Test.
  • Previous related work experience (Worker's Compensation, General Liability, and/or Professional Insurance).
