About the position

The Prepared Foods Dishwasher at Whole Foods Market plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen area. This position involves performing all duties related to dishwashing, ensuring that all dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and small wares are washed, rinsed, and sanitized to meet health and safety regulations. Team Members are expected to uphold the company's positive image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to both customers and fellow Team Members at all times. Adherence to the store's Standard Operating Procedures is essential, and Team Members must be prepared to perform duties inherent in other job descriptions as needed. In addition to dishwashing, the role includes maintaining the cleanliness of floors, mats, drains, walls, and shelves in the kitchen area. The Dishwasher will assist with kitchen deliveries, ensuring proper storage, organization, and rotation of products. Punctuality and readiness to work are critical, as is the ability to attend required trainings and meetings. Excellent customer service is a priority, and Team Members are expected to address customer needs promptly and effectively, utilizing suggestive selling techniques when appropriate. The Dishwasher will also maximize sales potential by following effective procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising products. Compliance with established procedures, including health and sanitation standards, is mandatory. The role requires performing opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, ensuring the accuracy of signs and pricing, and reporting any safety hazards or violations immediately. Other duties may be assigned by store, regional, or national leadership as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Washes, rinses, and sanitizes dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and small wares.
  • Maintains cleanliness of floors, mats, drains, walls, and shelves in the kitchen area.
  • Assists with kitchen deliveries including proper storage, organization, and rotation of products.
  • Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings.
  • Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques; answers phones and pages promptly and courteously.
  • Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.
  • Follows and complies, or ensures compliance, with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintains, or ensures maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintains equipment in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensures accuracy of signs and pricing.
  • Immediately reports safety hazards and violations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.

Requirements

  • No prior retail experience required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand/walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day.
  • Ability to perform hand use tasks including single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
  • Ability to perform motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
