About the position

The Preparedness Training and Exercise Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, scheduling, conduct, and evaluation of emergency preparedness training courses and exercises in collaboration with local health departments and healthcare partners. This role involves ensuring compliance with federal training directives, enhancing partner performance, and improving response capabilities. The manager will also supervise staff and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to support training and exercise activities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and scheduling of emergency preparedness training courses and exercises.
  • Conduct and evaluate training courses and preparedness exercises in collaboration with local health departments and healthcare partners.
  • Ensure compliance with federal training and exercise directives.
  • Enhance knowledge of emergency preparedness plans and improve partner performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve response capabilities to real events.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external preparedness partners.
  • Supervise staff involved in training and exercise activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in emergency management, public health, public administration, or related field and four years of relevant experience; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and six years of such experience; OR eight years of relevant experience.
  • At least two years of experience must include supervision of staff.
  • Relevant experience in healthcare facility preparedness, disaster preparedness logistics and operations, emergency preparedness and planning, and/or response.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in emergency preparedness and preparedness training.
  • Familiarity with the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP).
  • Experience organizing emergency preparedness training programs and exercises, including Table-Top, Functional, and Full-Scale exercises.
  • Knowledge of Training Needs Analysis and Training Evaluation.
  • Effective planning and management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Completion of FEMA IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and E/G/K 0146 courses.
