About the position

The Presale Analyst position is strategically designed to support winning group benefits business and provide exceptional deliverables through key business relationships and optimal teamwork. This role involves working closely with various business partners, including sales, underwriting, claims, legal, compliance, and marketing, to evaluate new business or renewal opportunities. The Presale Analyst is responsible for recruiting the appropriate resources to assess prospects and facilitating discussions to drive issue resolution. A critical aspect of this role is the timely delivery and quality response to all requests for proposal (RFPs), which includes the completion of questionnaires and the development of supporting proposal materials. The ideal candidate will possess effective writing and interpersonal communication skills, be detail-oriented, organized, and exhibit strong project management skills. This includes the ability to prioritize changing tasks, respond to multiple deadlines, and manage concurrent tasks successfully in a fast-paced environment. The Presale Analyst will ensure the timely delivery of quality proposals for National, Regional, and Priority Accounts, which includes questionnaires and additional required RFP components. They will effectively complete and respond to RFPs utilizing the response database and other internal resources while highlighting the company's differentiators. The role also requires updating proposal responses based on accuracy and conducting consultative reviews, including proofreading for error detection. The Presale Analyst will lead small project groups, facilitating group calls to complete each RFP, and will review legal agreements, terms and conditions, and requirements/specifications. Additionally, they will contribute to the development and maintenance of best practices, tools, processes, and procedures, and develop strategic proposals that articulate customer needs and fulfill their requirements. Establishing and maintaining relationships with sales, underwriting, and other internal business partners is essential to achieve optimal results through effective teamwork and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Timely delivery of quality National, Regional and Priority Account proposals, inclusive of questionnaires and additional required RFP components.
  • Complete and respond effectively to RFPs utilizing the response database and other internal resources while highlighting The Hartford's differentiators.
  • Help update proposal responses based on accuracy and consultative review (proofreading through error detection).
  • Lead small project groups including facilitation group calls to complete each RFP.
  • Review legal agreements, terms and conditions, and requirements/specifications.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of best practices, tools, processes, and procedures.
  • Develop strategic proposals which articulate the customer's needs and fulfills the customer's requirements.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with sales, underwriting, and additional internal business partners to achieve optimal results through effective teamwork and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Presale and/or Request for Proposal (RFP) experience preferred.
  • Group Benefits insurance and/or Supplemental Health experience a plus.
  • Extensive persuasive and technical writing skills including editing for plain language.
  • Customer driven mindset with the emphasis on keeping the customer at the center of what we do and creating strategic responses to meet the customer needs.
  • Detailed-oriented and organization skills: Attention to detail is critical to each RFP with focus on all aspects of the project from grammar to timelines.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent business experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the insurance industry, particularly in group benefits or supplemental health.
