About the position

The Preschool Teacher Assistant/Floater position at Helping Hands Learning Academy is a full-time role that provides essential support to the Lead Teachers and Teacher Assistants in a Board of Education partnered Preschool program. The role involves implementing developmentally appropriate activities in line with the Creative Curriculum and the Program Philosophy, ensuring a safe and positive environment for children.

Responsibilities

• Support Lead Teachers and Teacher Assistants in the classroom when they are absent.
• Supervise children in a safe and developmentally appropriate environment.
• Implement the designated curriculum with appropriate conversations and guidance strategies.
• Log daily child attendance and meal counts, submitting monthly reports to supervisors.
• Conduct developmental screenings, parent conferences, and ongoing assessments.
• Maintain anecdotal notes and developmental records for each child, including data entry.
• Participate in meetings and professional development as required.

Requirements

• Experience in a preschool classroom setting or equivalent experience working with children.
• Proficient computer skills, including database systems and internet access.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Nice-to-haves

• Associates degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
• Experience with Preschool and knowledge of the Creative Curriculum.
• Substitute Certification (must obtain if not already certified).
