About the position

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Preschool Assistant Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Lead Teacher to support the planning and implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum for young children. The Assistant Teacher will help create a nurturing and safe learning environment that fosters the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development of preschool-aged children.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Instruction: Help the Lead Teacher in implementing lesson plans and activities that align with the school's curriculum.
  • Engage with children in individual and group activities to promote learning in key areas such as language, math, science, and social skills.
  • Support children's participation in both structured and free play activities.
  • Classroom Management: Ensure the classroom environment is clean, safe, and organized.
  • Monitor and supervise children to ensure their safety at all times.
  • Assist with transitions between activities, helping children understand daily routines.
  • Child Development: Observe and monitor children's progress and behavior, reporting any concerns to the Lead Teacher.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, encouraging their social, emotional, and intellectual growth.
  • Assist with feeding, toileting, diaper changing, and other care routines as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's/bachelor's degree or coursework in early childhood education preferred.
  • Previous experience working with preschool-aged children is highly desirable.
  • First aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain it upon hire.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and other staff.
  • Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young children.
