About the position

Saint Luke Academy is seeking an experienced Child Care Teacher to foster the intellectual and psychological growth of children in a nurturing environment. The role involves teaching, supervising, and motivating children to develop their mental capacities and creativity. The successful candidate will lead the curriculum development and ensure the academic, emotional, and social growth of the children.

Responsibilities

  • Diaper changing / toileting toddlers.
  • Leading the development of the center's curriculum.
  • Assessing lesson plans and current teaching methods.
  • Cultivating a safe, happy, and stimulating environment for children.
  • Instructing preschool-aged children in activities designed to promote intellectual and creative growth.
  • Planning and implementing daily lesson plans and activities.
  • Supporting, guiding, and reviewing other members of the teaching staff.
  • Tracking and reporting on children's academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Observing each child daily to assess skills, interests, and needs and using this information to facilitate learning and growth.

Requirements

  • Must meet state requirements for education and additional center/school requirements may apply.
  • Experience leading a classroom and creating educational lesson plans.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal laws governing childcare.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and work ethic.

Nice-to-haves

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) or Florida Child Care Professional Certificate (FCCPC) earned within the last 5 years.
  • An Associate's Degree or higher in an unrelated field, with at least 6 credit hours in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, and at least 480 hours of experience in teaching or providing childcare services for children from birth to 8 years old.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Pre-Kindergarten or Primary Education, Preschool Education, or Family and Consumer Science.
