About the position
The Preschool Teacher at LULAC Head Start Inc. is responsible for creating a safe and engaging educational environment for children in the Head Start program. This role involves developing individual goals for children, conducting assessments, and facilitating their transition into preschool settings. The teacher will work closely with families to support their involvement in the program and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe and supervised educational setting for children.
- Develop individual goals for children and assess their progress.
- Facilitate transitions into Head Start or other preschool settings.
- Support parents in their role as primary caretakers and educators.
- Maintain ongoing communication with families and integrate services into the family setting.
- Plan and implement classroom activities based on children's individual needs.
- Conduct focused observations of children and develop action plans.
- Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations and federal performance standards.
- Maintain individual files on required information for each child.
- Participate in regular meetings, training, and assessments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with credits in ECE.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in child development.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a classroom setting.
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with infants, toddlers, and parents.
- Valid Child Development Associate Certification (preferred).
- CPR Certification (preferred).
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in Early Childhood Education (preferred).
- Associate degree in a related field (preferred).
