About the position

The CNC Brake Machine Operator, 2nd class position is responsible for producing parts by operating a CNC brake machine. The role involves ensuring that jobs are completed and shipped on schedule while adhering to quality standards. The operator will work closely with the 1st class CNC Machine Operator to monitor machine operations, perform maintenance, and maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve parts list and applicable CNC programs to create parts as needed per job.
• Load materials onto the machine and secure them safely using clamps and fixtures.
• Coordinate with the 1st class CNC Machine Operator to enter commands and adjust machine controls as necessary.
• Monitor machines and control panel displays to ensure proper operation.
• Use tools like calipers and protractors to measure finished products for compliance with requirements.
• Stage completed parts for the next phase of fabrication.
• Perform scheduled and repair maintenance on machines, including tool maintenance.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Perform necessary side operations during machine cycle time as required.
• Train with 1st class CNC Machine Operators to develop skills in operating machines.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or CNC operation.
• Strong mechanical skills and aptitude in supporting CNC sheet metal equipment.
• Good math skills and basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of engineering science and technology as applied to production processes.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Trumpf and Accupress tools.
• Familiarity with AS 400 accounting software.
