About the position

The Press Car Analyst position at Volkswagen Group of America in Chattanooga, TN, is a critical role focused on the evaluation of Press Cars, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards. The analyst will be responsible for assessing all components and operational conditions of the vehicles, arranging necessary reworks based on evaluations, and ensuring that the cars are in the best possible condition before delivery. This role requires adherence to the Press Car process as aligned with Volkswagen's wide standards and involves supporting the Press Car buy-off process from the Chattanooga plant, ensuring there are no delays, and facilitating approvals from upper management. Additionally, the analyst will attend the vehicle buildup of show cars from the Chattanooga facility. The primary responsibilities include conducting Press Car Perfect Delivery Inspections (PDI), which involve static, dynamic, and acoustic evaluations of Press Cars, particularly focusing on electric vehicles. The analyst will document any issues found during inspections and coordinate rework with the EPC-EG Press team and Press Car Technicians. They will also support the Press Car break-in process, including brake embedding, and perform software and hardware updates, checking for recalls, campaigns, updates, and Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). In addition to inspections, the analyst will provide technical support at press and media events, preparing cars according to PDI processes, procuring spare parts, and inspecting inbound and outbound Press Cars for damages. They will also conduct daily Reuse Inspections (RUI) of Press Cars after dynamic media evaluations and ensure that the Press Cars have the latest available software updates. The role requires effective documentation of Press Car concerns and collaboration with cross-functional departments to support root cause analysis and implement both short and long-term solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform static, dynamic, and acoustic evaluation of Press Cars with a focus on electric vehicles.
  • Document issues and coordinate rework with EPC-EG Press team and Press Car Technician.
  • Perform Press Car specific inspections regarding appearance, equipment, and function.
  • Support Press Car break-in process including brake embedding.
  • Perform software and hardware updates on Press Cars.
  • Check for recalls, campaigns, updates, and TSBs.
  • Prepare cars for press/media events according to PDI processes.
  • Procure spare parts and supplies for events as advised.
  • Inspect inbound and outbound Press Cars for damages and coordinate/check rework as necessary.
  • Perform daily Reuse Inspections (RUI) of Press Cars after dynamic media evaluations.
  • Ensure Press Cars have the necessary latest available software updates.
  • Document Press Car concerns and report to respective departments accordingly.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support root cause analysis and implement solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the automotive industry, preferably in engineering or dealership roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science (Automotive/Mechanical) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical, critical, and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Interactive communication skills in English, including interpersonal, presentation, and written communication.
  • Willingness to assist in problem-solving efforts and implementation of solutions.
  • Ability to work well as a team player.
  • Highly self-motivated, disciplined, and confident attitude.
  • Desire to expand technical knowledge and skills.
  • Good administrative skills, including organization and prioritization.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical skills, particularly in root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge about vehicle evaluation and automotive software flashing experience.
  • Proficient in static and dynamic vehicle evaluations and NVH analysis.
