About the position

The Press Operator, Level 1 plays a crucial role in the efficient operation of the offset printing press by assisting with setup, maintenance, and operation. This position is essential for ensuring the delivery of top-quality printed materials, contributing to the overall workflow and safety in the printing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Head Pressman and Production Manager to ensure a seamless workflow.
  • Safely operate and maintain the press and associated equipment, fostering a secure work environment.
  • Bend and install plates on the press, ensuring accuracy and alignment.
  • Prepare paper for the press, creating roll splices without compromising the continuous web.
  • Bundle and stack printed products on skids, preparing materials for mailing as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area by sweeping, mopping, and disposing of trash daily.
  • Conduct press maintenance tasks as required, either proactively or as directed by the Head Pressman or Production Director.
  • Maintain a sense of urgency in addressing press waste and making necessary color adjustments on the press.
  • Review the job ticket for each assigned task to execute jobs accurately and in accordance with specifications.

Requirements

  • Press Trainee Experience (Preferred): Prior experience as a press trainee or in similar roles is ideal.
  • Clamp Truck Certification: Valid certification to safely handle materials and products.
  • Mechanically Inclined: Demonstrated mechanical aptitude for efficient equipment operation and troubleshooting.
  • Dependability: Reliable and punctual, consistently meeting work commitments and deadlines.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a team and support colleagues.
