About the position

The position involves monitoring all aspects of the printing process at Graphic Packaging International, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and productivity standards. The role includes leading a team, providing training, and troubleshooting printing issues to maintain high-quality output while minimizing waste.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with all company and department safety, quality, productivity and security procedures.
  • Ensures accuracy and compliance of operator documentation involving all aspects of the assigned machines.
  • Monitors and adjusts print register, side to side alignment, de-curl unit, and delivery adjustments to maximize quality and minimize waste.
  • Monitors special work assignments of team members as introduced by department manager and supervisors.
  • Leads activities of crew and provides job instruction and training for all employees.
  • Communicates all machine and department issues effectively to department manager and supervisors and presents data-based solutions.
  • Monitors carton quality including print to cut, scores, and print quality using AVT system.
  • Responsible for communicating with Lead Finishing Operators regarding production changeovers and related issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by department manager.
  • Assists in 'breaking out' unwind, ink and operator as needed.
  • Follows quality procedures including ink density and color monitoring.
  • Understands and monitors the 5S system and takes ownership of the working environment.
  • Assists with stacking off product when necessary and helps keep WIP materials to a minimum.
  • Monitors cutting, stack quality and consistency.
  • Sets up computer and AVT system on all job changes and clears jams.
  • Assists with the foaming of dies and changing pins, and changes out modules.
  • Operates A&F system and replaces belts in delivery.
  • Leads make-ready activities and changes doctor blades and seals.
  • Sets print impressions and monitors line speed.
  • Lays out print deck to graphic lay down sequence and prepares press accordingly.
  • Monitors ink blade pressure and leaks, and troubleshoots printing and press-related issues.
  • Culls waste material and transfers them, powers down machine at shutdown, and assists Flexo Operator and coworkers as needed.
  • Completes preventative maintenance on equipment and records activities into SAP.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED
  • Work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 2-5 years of Flexographic experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively to establish strong working relationships
  • Must be willing to accept training and feedback as needed
  • Must be able to visually identify quality issues.
