About the position

The Prevention Intervention Specialist at Palomar Family Counseling Service plays a crucial role in implementing the Incredible Years® model as a prevention and early intervention strategy for children from preschool to third grade. This position involves conducting screenings, providing evidence-based practice presentations, and collaborating with families and community partners to enhance children's social, emotional, and academic skills. The specialist will work primarily in community locations and local elementary schools, contributing to the overall mission of supporting and strengthening families and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct screenings, enrollment, and make recommendations for level of care.
  • Collaborate with the Family Community Partnership Component.
  • Ensure completion of pre & post test measures.
  • Provide Incredible Years® Evidence Based Practice (EBP) presentations to children and parents.
  • Conduct Incredible Years® (EBP) small groups.
  • Conduct Incredible Years® (EBP) parenting classes.
  • Provide consultation with teachers.
  • Report data and all EBP required information for program documentation and evaluation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years related experience in child, youth, and family services.
  • Strong understanding of early childhood behavioral and developmental health issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and other technology tools.
  • Familiarity with child development and social learning theory.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and adequate auto insurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • State of California Licensed or license eligible (LCSW, LMFT, IMF, ASW) by the California Board of Behavioral Science.
  • Experience working in a school/classroom setting preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English); English proficiency required.
