About the position

The Pricing Analyst will be responsible for developing, analyzing, and managing pricing strategies to optimize profitability and ensure competitive positioning for a leading wholesale distributor. This role requires close collaboration with various teams, including sales, finance, procurement, and marketing, to evaluate market conditions and align pricing strategies with the company's growth objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement pricing strategies for products and services, ensuring alignment with market trends, cost structures, and profit goals.
  • Conduct regular market research to monitor competitor pricing, industry trends, and customer demand, adjusting pricing models accordingly.
  • Analyze sales data, pricing trends, and customer behavior to identify pricing opportunities and areas for improvement, providing actionable insights and recommendations to management.
  • Collaborate with finance and procurement teams to assess cost structures and ensure pricing reflects costs, margins, and profitability targets.
  • Set and adjust prices for individual products, product lines, or customer groups, ensuring competitiveness while maximizing margins.
  • Develop and maintain pricing models, tools, and systems to streamline pricing decisions and improve accuracy.
  • Support the approval process for price changes, ensuring internal stakeholders are informed of pricing decisions and strategies.
  • Work with sales teams to understand customer-specific pricing requirements and collaborate on the development of customized pricing proposals.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business or STEM fields is required.
  • Preferred 1 - 2 years of experience in the office products industry or pricing role.
  • Advanced experience with Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot.
  • Advanced experience with data transformation/data cleansing software, such as Alteryx, or advanced knowledge of SQL.
  • Preferred experience with data visualization software, such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Preferred experience with pricing software, such as PROS, Zilliant, Price FX, Vendavo.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with dynamic pricing models or revenue management.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, SQL, or other business intelligence tools.
  • Understanding of wholesale distribution and market dynamics.
