Responsibilities

• Perform assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a licensed provider, RN, or LPN.
• Take vital signs and administer a limited profile of medications per Emory Clinic approved policy.
• Perform simple diagnostic tests, collect specimens, and draw blood.
• Sterilize and clean equipment, and maintain examination rooms.
• Assist in emergency situations as directed by a licensed provider, RN, or LPN.
• Handle administrative duties including patient check in/out and responding to patient requests.
• Reinforce patient and family education, and manage visitor/telephone reception.
• Maintain patients' charts and records data, ensuring proper identification and confidentiality.
• Order, verify, and store unit supplies.
• Ensure compliance with Universal Precaution guidelines and safety standards.

Requirements

• Basic computer skills required.
• Current AHA BLS certification is required for hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
• Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) is required.
• Must successfully complete all medical assistant orientation and training requirements including certification and annual skills competency.
