About the position

The Primary Care Nurse at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is responsible for providing safe, family-centered nursing care to pediatric patients in the South Philly office. This role involves collaborating with families and healthcare teams to manage complex patient care, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, and participating in administrative responsibilities. The position requires a commitment to professional development and quality care, with a focus on fostering an inclusive environment for diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the Nursing Process to deliver safe care: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Synthesize patient assessment data and recognize complex situations prior to communicating with the care team.
  • Collaborate with family, team members, and other caregivers to initiate/update the plan of care, patient/family education, and discharge needs.
  • Manage care of complex patients utilizing proper prioritization and delegation to appropriate staff.
  • Document ongoing evaluation and effectiveness of patient care utilizing current hospital standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Model professionalism and leadership by promoting a positive image of nursing and interacting with patients and colleagues with respect.
  • Participate in patient care rounds and make recommendations to the plan of care.
  • Assist with data collection in research studies and apply research findings to clinical practice.
  • Identify personal learning needs and seek opportunities for professional development.
  • Monitor usage of supplies and equipment to promote quality, efficient, and cost-effective care.

Requirements

  • Valid RN License in Pennsylvania or New Jersey upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • At least two years of nursing experience preferred, with pediatric experience preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Basic computer competency and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
