About the position

The Primary Care Nurse at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is responsible for providing safe, family-centered nursing care to pediatric patients in the Paoli Primary Care office. This role requires clinical competence in managing patients with moderate to complex health issues, collaborating with families and care teams, and assisting with administrative tasks. The position involves rotating shifts, including evenings and Saturdays, and requires adherence to established nursing standards and protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the Nursing Process to deliver safe care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Synthesize patient assessment data and recognize complex situations prior to communicating with the care team.
  • Collaborate with family, team members, and other caregivers to initiate/update the plan of care, patient/family education, and discharge needs.
  • Manage care of complex patients utilizing proper prioritization and delegation to appropriate staff.
  • Document ongoing evaluation and effectiveness of patient care utilizing current hospital standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Model professionalism and promote a positive image of nursing through respectful interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Participate in patient care rounds and make recommendations to the plan of care.
  • Engage in research activities, including reading nursing articles and assisting with data collection for studies.
  • Identify personal learning needs and seek opportunities for professional development.
  • Participate in promoting quality, efficient, and cost-effective care.

Requirements

  • Valid RN License in Pennsylvania or New Jersey upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
  • At least two years of nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
