Responsibilities
- Provide primary care to a panel of patients, including comprehensive assessments and diagnostic work-ups.
- Function as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
- Establish diagnoses and respond to emergency health problems appropriately.
- Initiate referrals and consultations to other clinical services as needed.
- Order and evaluate diagnostic tests, recommending treatment or referral based on results.
- Document health appraisal information, clinical assessments, and treatment plans using the electronic patient record system.
- Respond to alerts indicating diagnostic test abnormalities and health line requests from veterans and their families.
- Follow performance measure guidelines and ensure compliance with clinical reminders and customer service standards.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state or territory.
- Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program leading to board certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Must be board certified or board eligible.
