About the position

The Primary Scheduler/Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for preparing and maintaining the weekly schedule four weeks in advance, ordering raw materials to meet schedule demands, and verifying that all necessary ingredients and materials will arrive before production dates. The role involves reviewing a 15-day report daily for rationality and legitimacy, making schedule changes in consultation with the Purchasing Manager, and maintaining minimum and maximum levels of raw materials. Additionally, the coordinator will monitor shipments and invoicing, gather information for scheduling, and maintain communication with schedulers and management. Participation in physical inventories twice a year and compliance with the Food Safety and Quality Management System are also required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain Weekly Schedule out four weeks in advance.
  • Order raw materials to meet schedule demands, and verify/confirm with tracking information that ingredients/materials needed for production will arrive before the production date.
  • Review 15 day report for rationality and legitimacy on a daily basis.
  • Make schedule changes as needed, consulting with Purchasing Manager.
  • Maintain min/max levels of raw materials.
  • Maintain pricing and lead time in system for raw materials.
  • Maintain pricing in the Master Pricing File monthly.
  • Monitor shipments and invoicing of raw materials.
  • Gather information, request cycle counts for suspect material quantities.
  • Maintain communication with schedulers and management on a daily basis.
  • Monitor pricing with suppliers.
  • Arrange freight for inbounds to get best quote.
  • Participate in physical inventories twice a year.
  • Support the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Some previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience may be helpful in this occupation.
  • Exposure to manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, co-workers, and external contacts.
  • Proficiency in typing, PC and assorted software programs such as Excel and word processing.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and identify problems.
  • Must adhere to departmental procedures and follow all safety guidelines.
