About the position

The position involves joining a team of engineers at Medtronic focused on developing and supporting the robotic-assisted surgery platform. The role emphasizes the design and maintenance of test fixtures, software development for user interfaces, and collaboration across teams to enhance surgical innovations aimed at improving patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support the launch of the next-generation robotically-assisted minimally invasive surgical platform.
  • Design and maintain test fixtures to verify product functionality.
  • Engage in cross-team hardware and software development.
  • Translate written requirements into well-designed implementations.
  • Design, develop, and implement industrial machinery and equipment for R&D or experimental use.
  • Create and maintain industrial wiring diagrams using AutoCAD.
  • Develop fixture software using Microsoft Visual Studio (C++ preferred).
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and determine root causes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • Demonstrable coding skills in Microsoft Visual Studio C++ and/or LabVIEW.
  • Experience creating industrial wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • A BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree with appropriate experience.
  • Recent experience implementing test fixture GUIs and software.
  • Working knowledge of Lockout Tagout procedures.
  • Experience with Galil, Delta Tau, and Allen Bradley control systems.
  • A passion for learning new things and enjoys variety.
  • Excellent communication and teaming skills.
