About the position

The Principal Administrative Aide will provide essential administrative support to managers and staff within the Montgomery County Department of Transportation's Division of Traffic Engineering and Operations. This role focuses on delivering customer service to residents, maintaining office records, and preparing operational reports. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to managers and staff.
  • Deliver customer service to residents of Montgomery County.
  • Input new data into multiple computer database systems accurately.
  • Maintain accurate database system records.
  • Create documents and reports using MS Office Suite.
  • Manage and respond to email and telephone inquiries.
  • Organize, maintain, and archive files effectively.
  • Receive, screen, and distribute mail to appropriate staff.

Requirements

  • Two years of responsible office support experience.
  • Graduation from high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in providing customer service.
  • Experience in communicating verbally and in writing.
  • Experience using computer software and email programs, such as word processing, excel spreadsheets, access and outlook.
  • Experience in monitoring and recording/documenting public complaints and concerns.
  • Experience planning, organizing and prioritizing administrative activities and processes.
