About the position
The Principal AI Hardware Architect role at Microsoft is a pivotal position within the Strategic Planning and Architecture (SPARC) team, part of the Azure Hardware Systems & Infrastructure (AHSI) organization. This role focuses on innovating hardware designs to enhance Microsoft's cloud growth, particularly in AI workloads. The architect will be responsible for analyzing hardware architecture, architecting large-scale systems, and driving neural network model and hardware co-design, all while collaborating across teams to align with business strategies.
Responsibilities
- Analyse Hardware Architecture for AI workloads.
- Architect large scale systems to support breakthrough performance AI workloads.
- Benchmark GPUs and other AI hardware IPs.
- Drive neural network model/hardware co-design.
- Understand business critical AI workloads/applications.
- Develop and analyse novel neural network architectures.
Requirements
- 10+ years of technical engineering experience OR a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience OR a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience OR a Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience.
- 7+ years of experience in Computer Architecture or AI Systems.
Nice-to-haves
- MS/PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Architecture/Systems, Electrical Engineering, High-Performance Computing or related areas.
