This senior-level technical role at Verizon focuses on driving profitable growth and leading business innovation through the application of advanced machine learning and AI technologies. The position involves independently leading data science projects aimed at enhancing product personalization, marketing effectiveness, and operational efficiency. The role requires collaboration with teams of data scientists and machine learning engineers to develop and deliver next-generation AI/ML solutions, while also mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Independently lead and complete AI projects, designing and delivering innovative technical solutions to improve business outcomes.
• Design and develop machine learning/deep learning models, ensuring optimal performance.
• Collaborate with machine learning engineers to deploy models in production, both in real-time and batch processes, while systematically tracking model performance.
• Engage with key business stakeholders to discuss strategies and opportunities.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on deep learning, machine learning, and predictive modeling.
• Drive technical innovation through research and application of new theories and technologies.
• Mentor and coach junior data scientists in their career development and technical skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Six or more years of relevant work experience in machine learning and data science.
• Strong analytical and coding skills, with proficiency in Python, Pyspark, and SQL.
• Experience in developing models and algorithms independently and deploying them in production.
• Knowledge of AI/ML models and frameworks such as Pytorch and Tensorflow.
• Experience in data management and analysis.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Economics, Engineering, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in machine learning, deep learning, and data science in business.
• Master's or Ph.D. in a related field is preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in scaling AI in areas like personalization, deep learning, NLP, and computer vision.
• Experience with Hadoop, GCP, AWS, or other distributed compute services.
