About the position

As a Principal Air Defense Systems Engineer within SNC's Mission Systems Integration (MSI) directorate, you will leverage your expertise to support Ground Based Air Defense programs. This role involves providing subject matter expertise for the design and implementation of Maneuver Short-Range Air Defense (MSHORAD) systems and related products. You will engage in research, architecture, modeling, simulation, testing, and certification of advanced Air Defense solutions, ensuring a layered defense system. Your responsibilities will include system-level ownership throughout the product lifecycle and maintaining key technical relationships with the US Army and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to program and company processes and engineering standards for consistency, quality, and safety.
  • Oversee the adequacy of engineering and technical design outputs for the product line.
  • Build and maintain customer technical relationships with key representatives and major suppliers.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and support the engineering team in executing program design activities.
  • Support new business capture and follow-on business opportunities.
  • Create external and leadership-facing marketing content.
  • Support critical capture meetings and summits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline with typically 14 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Progressive experience in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Advanced understanding of requirements management, systems design, systems integration, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Experience with requirements management and system modeling tools such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLAB.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical design principles and Model Based System Engineering (MBSE).
  • Experience or certification in INCOSE standards.
